The Power of Places
The Power of Places The power of places is report introducing the field of study I was willing to explore for my Final Major Project at LCC MA Graphic Branding and Identity. A field of study is the (still) vague but viable topic I will place my project within. It begins from being very broad to then be settle in more specific areas and develop into a design project. I decided to investigate the role of the places that surround us. Their impact on our feelings (with a focus on belonging and motivation) and health. The introduction explores the motives and values that drive my research and explores possibilities of locating my research within work spaces, more particularly co-workingspaces, rather than residential spaces. It is made of four main chapters From Spaces to Places/Places & Identity/Choice & Control/Places & Health that explore in turns: the difference between the concept of space and place; the impact of places on identity formation; the need for choice and control (two psychological factors) in our surrounding spaces, especially at work; the unexpected effects of the places we inhabit on our physical and mental health.
